Shirak Museum of Regional Studies

Shirak Museum of Geology was founded in 1930. The museum had the following departments: History of Shirak, culture, socialist construction, history of the Great Patriotic War.
In the archeology department, you can see tools of work that have come down to us from the stone, bronze, and iron ages.
In 1977, the museum had more than 2000 archaeological exhibits. The painting department displays more than 150 works of art, in which you can see paintings by Hovhannes Aivazovsky, Gevorg Bashinjaghyan, Vardges Surenyants, Martiros Saryan, Gabriel Gyurjian and other artists. There is also a rich collection of coins at the exhibition, where you can see not only Armenian coins, but also more than 5,000 examples of Iranian, Greek, Russian, and Turkish coins.
